Alright now it has been awhile but when you are looking at nearby planets isn't it supposed to show all the planets because I have been capturing planets then when I do nearby searches of ones I have already captured before and cleared the system it said was nearby another shows up but basically isn't it supposed to show all nearbys not just 1?

No, nearby always showed only the nearest planet.

There's an upgrade to show two. Only useful if at least one system only has one planet though.
