Not sure, I haven't noticed a huge drop in banking, I figure that 1 in 5 bank when banking is available..... it has remained fairly steady over the last year

why do u need banking anyway?
u want to build up before having a hw?
Easy just use the market sell resources until u have 3k credits and then u can have your hw (3k credits = aprx 12M T or E).
12M defense resources plus x12 x13 shield is considered average hw although u can always buy a x20.

Banking is safer

how so? u sell everything u get for credits. how can u lose credits? actually this method is safer than banking

to sell res you need time, unless you'll sell for very low prices. But in that case you'll loose quite a lot.
But of course selling res for credits is much better than loosing them

that is exactly it.. i have been sitting back building up for a few months now and it pays off tremendously to bank.. i now have 2 maxed out hws and one with over 8m troops on it... when u try to build up the way you are saying then ur planets are easily destroyed since you dont have the resources to build turrets
