The NSA is taking our private phone calls; Bush is protecting them, and the general population in America is so jaded that we are not lifting a finger to do anything about it. Our President, that somehow got elected twice, is trampling all over our little bill of rights, and this is reported every night in the news. All we seem to be doing is turning the volume on our iPods ever higher.

China is getting more powerful as the days go by, and America is getting weaker. China is creeping their way to Democracy and we are hurdling into totalitarianism.

well... Maybe I have an overactive imagination...

No, it's not your imagination I spent nine years of my life in the Military of what was not so long ago truly the land of the free and the home of the brave. The first Bush stunk at his job and the second is no better. The only difference with this one is his thirst for absolute control. The tragic events of 911 gave him the chance to quench that thirst and, as history has proven about rulers like him, he can't get enough, and won't until he finally leaves office. For which I thank God we imposed term limits. Unfortunately, there will be others like him because the American public can't be bothered now to stand up and say enough is enough. ( However they can piss and moan until you can't have a cigarette while walking down the sidewalk inside the city limits) It disgust me that my father and many of my kin, not to mention countless friends, and fellow soldiers died so that these lazy fat ass people have the freedom to watch such events unfolding on the nightly news and have the power to do something about it. But choose instead to roll over ( and can still actually go to sleep) knowing that we are headed for certain disaster, Then rise to go about the day as if all is as it should be. To me this means these brave warriors died for absolutely nothing and that saddens the depths of my soul. Truly pathetic Namenlos, is if and when this country does collapse into a Totalitarianism State these same self indulged citizens that did nothing to stop the fall will expect someone else besides themselves to pick up a rifle and take the nation back..... In the Army we called these type of people cowards. Oh and don't kid yourself, the leaders of China have no desire for Democracy, they are only humoring the West to get the money they need to build up their war machine, and of course America's leaders, and our citizens, by purchasing their goods, have so far been dumb enough to give it to them........ That's just my opinion on the current status of our great country ( I hope I am wrong)

The leaders of China do not want or need democracy, but they are getting quite committed to capitalism. China has more than 70% of their economy now as private enterprises, and the economy is booming. It is likely that as domestic consumption grows in China, they will decrease in dependence on the USA for trade and wealth, and not only will China become a military peer to the USA over time, but it will also become and economic power in its own right, similar to the economic power of Japan over the past 20 years in the global economy.

As for listening to phone calls, the NSA or any US agency is far behind China in that regard. China is very good at listening to and monitoring the actions of the citizens of their own country.

By the way, in 20 years America will be dying and China will be exploding. Seriously. China is a fair country from what I know of it, and Europe is scrambling to make sure it doesn't get hurt, which I don't think they will.

In 20 years, America will be in a very sorry state indeed.
