... unless you have uranium on the planet. The turrets use uranium as ammo, not energy like fighters do. Each time they shoot, they use 700 uranium per turret for each fighter that attacks the planet. So, lots of turrets, lots of fighter, means need lots of ammo.

If attacking a planet, check for uranium. If no uranium, turrets will not fire even if they are there, so assault is safe to attack with. If there is uranium on the planet, there might be turrets or it might be a bluff. However, it would be wise to test with a fighter or maybe a small assault to see if there are turrets on the planet before sending in a big ship.

If defense is below one million, turrets can not fire at even if they have been built, so go for it and capture the planet.
