2 hours seems OK time to me
Of course I can only build 2 turrets on my "HW" right now

Yeah, try building on more than one HW. VERY VERY SLOW and time consuming.

Then again, as Iiridayn said, it should be slow, as it took a long time to create the resources to defend these planets, and I should be patient and invest the time required now to defend them, or I should just give up on defending them and put the resources on the market and sell them for credits. Not willing to do that, so I will have to wait for 53 more minutes while next building finishes. Need to learn to log in before going to bed every night and get one higher level building started. Eight hours is a very long time to wait arround for a building to finish.

And make sure you don't try and change the production on energy when you have your Shield Generator up and running, i can't get my +3 shields to work now not sure what i've done wrong.

You might have hit maximum shields. The +3 is automatic on shields, energy, and iron. It is not shown on production points that you select, as those are only the points for the planet itself, but it does show up on the production totals and in the points shown on the right of the main screen in the special area showing production output.

No made me x19 shields, now i just have x3 next to my energy on the production screen . An i am not using any energy for the shields as it is not saying they are there anymore.

Odd. I had that for a minute too. But, then I increased iron production, and was able to drop energy production. I will ask Iiridayn to look at why that happens, but I can't do so until next Tuesday, as he has a LOT of papers due in school in the next three days.
