What's your planet defence? Do you concentrate on defence or on recource making? Do you use shield?
I'll answer myself too ;)
I don't use shield, because it's a stupid idea, I will only turn it on when I detect someone with my intrusion detector.
My defence is around 16000 now.
I concentrate on recource making, but I don't produce any Hydrogen cuz' I still have enough of it. My clones/vital/energy are set to x1.

A shielded planet is MUCH easier to take not only because the defence is lower, but the shield multiplies the ammount of clones you need to actually take the planet.
My defence is at 22m right now. If I didnt have a shield over my hw its defence would only be about 8m... thats over 2x defence!! Plus its about to get a MAJOR Boost cuz I'm about to start harvesting.

Chaos, you are having a laugh aren't you? No sheild and only a defence of 16K on your main?? My main varies between 10M and 20M depending on how many troops I've been using up.
