I learned a lot from this. I am a newbie, so it was useful to learn about evolution and defeat but comeback of other players. I hope that my fifth character will be as successful as Chaotic Knight has been.

Survive to a point where you have a homeworld that is uncapturable except by a whole fleet of full exp assault ships and you can consider yourself successful at SL.

Being successful DOESNT necessarily make you a good player though, as duo has already hinted at, diplomacy is a major part of the game and will get you far.

Power on it's own doesn't always work, power, diplomacy, tactics and a fair bit of luck will get you places and also gain you respect.

Oh and a sense of humour is always good, and remember that it's just a game, now who took my planet? I'm going to bloody kill him
